A greedy random adaptive search procedure for the weighted maximal planar graph problem

چکیده
The weighted maximal planar graph (WMPG) problem seeks to find a subgraph from a given weighted complete graph such that the subgraph is planar—it can be embedded on the plane without any arcs intersecting. The subgraph is maximal—no additional arc can be added to the subgraph without destroying its planarity and it also has the maximal sum of arc weights. In this paper, the main objective is to develop, implement and empirically analyse a new greedy random adaptive search procedure (GRASP) to solve the WMPG problem. A dynamic strategy to update the restricted candidate list is proposed. An efficient data structure is developed for the Green&Al-Hakim (GH) construction heuristic. The data structure reduces the GH complexity from Oðn3Þ to Oðn2Þ: The GH heuristic with the data structure is then integrated with advanced moves neighbourhood to develop an efficient GRASP implementation. Further, we investigate the behaviour of GRASP parameters in relation to the problem’s characteristics. Finally, the developed algorithms are compared with the best-known procedures in the literature on a set of 100 test instances of sizes varying from 20 to 100 nodes. q 2003 Elsevier Ltd. Using Greedy Randomize Adaptive Search Procedure for solve the Quadratic Assignment Problem
Greedy randomize adaptive search procedure is one of the repetitive meta-heuristic to solve combinatorial problem. In this procedure, each repetition includes two, construction and local search phase. A high quality feasible primitive answer is made in construction phase and is improved in the second phase with local search. The best answer result of iterations, declare as output. In this stu...
متن کاملA hybrid metaheuristic using fuzzy greedy search operator for combinatorial optimization with specific reference to the travelling salesman problem
We describe a hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm for combinatorial optimization problems with a specific reference to the travelling salesman problem (TSP). The method is a combination of a genetic algorithm (GA) and greedy randomized adaptive search procedure (GRASP). A new adaptive fuzzy a greedy search operator is developed for this hybrid method. Computational experiments using a wide range of...
متن کاملFitting the Three-parameter Weibull Distribution by using Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure
The Weibull distribution is widely employed in several areas of engineering because it is an extremely flexible distribution with different shapes. Moreover, it can include characteristics of several other distributions. However, successful usage of Weibull distribution depends on estimation accuracy for three parameters of scale, shape and location. This issue shifts the attentions to the requ...
متن کاملA Hierarchical Social Metaheuristic for the Max-Cut Problem
This paper introduces a new social metaheuristic for the Max-Cut problem applied to a weighted undirected graph. This problem consists in finding a partition of the nodes into two subsets, such that the sum of the weights of the edges having endpoints in different subsets is maximized. This NP-hard problem for non planar graphs has several application areas such as VLSI and ASICs CAD. The hiera...
متن کاملAas 07-151 a Network Flow Formulation for an Egalitarian P2p Satellite Refueling Strategy
A variation of the P2P strategy, known as egalitarian P2P (E-P2P) refueling strategy, relaxes the restriction on the active satellites to return to their original orbital slots after undergoing the fuel transactions. The E-P2P refueling problem can be formulated as a three-index assignment problem on an undirected tripartite constellation graph, which can be solved using, say, a Greedy Random A...
